6 Ways REALTORS Can Build Brand Awareness on Instagram
Instagram can be a powerful tool for you to use to build brand awareness and stay top of mind for your sphere of influence. But with constant shifts in the platform, knowing what to post and when can feel really overwhelming. And the amount of time you think you need to dedicate to the platform can seem daunting.
That’s why I’m breaking down 6 things REALTORS can do on IG in 10 minutes or less to help you be in front of your ideal client, build meaningful relationships and position yourself as “The Go-To Agent” in your community.
Mindset Shifts
Before, I break it down. Here are a couple of mindset shifts that’ll set you up for success.
It’s not always about likes or views. I’ve had clients get business from posts with a couple of hundred views and very few comments. I’ve personally secured clients who have told me they’ve been watching my videos for months or even years, and who never took the time to like or comment. 😱
Not every piece of content needs to be a masterpiece. It’s the collection of your content that tells the story of who you are, who you serve, and how you serve them that matters more than any one piece of content.
Now that your mindset has been officially shifted. Here are 6 things you can do on Instagram in ten minutes or less to baby step your way to building brand awareness on IG without the overwhelm.
Commit to Posting
Commit to posting to your IG stories for 1-2 minutes per day. Think about your stories as a window into your life. Your favorite Starbs order… we want to know it! Your Target Haul… show us! That showing from this morning with the perfect little backyard… let’s see! You spilled coffee all over your shirt just before meeting that new client… girl, been there! Sharing small things like these helps you build familiarity with your audience and can be a great way to start conversations with your SOI.
Utilize Instagram Reels
Go into your camera roll and find a 5-7 video clip of a home from a recent showing or a new construction. Upload it to reels and add text on screen and a trending sound. The text on screen can be helpful information for buyers or sellers or interesting neighborhood tidbits. Literally, any tip that would be helpful for your ideal client.
Get Personal
Go into your camera roll. Choose 3-5 photos (that have you in them) from the last month or week. Maybe you have a photo of you and a colleague at a conference or training, or you and your partner on vacation, or you and a client on closing day… maybe it’s a pic of you and your dog, Scruffy. Add the photos as a carousel post and sum up the last month or week with photos. Guaranteed your audience will respond to this way better than that last “Just Listed” Canva graphic.
Research Hashtags
Click the magnifying glass on IG and type in “your city + real estate”, “your city + living” or variations of these. Check out what’s being posted there. Likely, boring AF content that doesn’t really add value to your ideal client. Decide that you’ll take over that hashtag by creating content.

Feature Your Clients
Grab a picture with your happy client and post it with a caption sharing a story. The story doesn’t have to be deeply personal or a mile long. It just needs to be relatable. Did they just buy their dream home? Did they buy their first home? Are they excited about renovating? Do they finally have the perfect backyard to host their annual 4th of July party? Don’t overthink it. Just share.
Engage Meaningfully
Set a timer on your phone for 10 minutes. Meaningfully engage with content from your SOI. That means comment, like, and/or share. This will help the algorithm understand that you’re interested in that person and that you have a relationship, positioning you in front of them and them in front of you more regularly. Obvi, only do this genuinely.
