How to Write Fire Instagram Captions — REALTOR Edition
Surprisingly, one of the biggest hurdles my clients have when it comes to content creation is a major block around writing IG captions. Second only to showing their face on camera, the fear of having to write IG captions is a serious problem for a lot of people. So…the good news is…you’re not alone. The bad news is…once again…you’re wayyyy overthinking this.
If you want to write a fire IG caption, it takes practice. As with anything, you’ll get better with time and it’ll feel more intuitive the more you do it. As someone who hates writing and would much rather hop on a phone call or Facetime or hit record on my iPhone than send an email or write this blog, I totally understand the feeling.
But words have power. And sharing knowledge and expertise in various formats helps strengthen your brand. With that being said, I’ve created a super simple outline that you can use over and over again to write IG captions that position you as the expert and showcase your knowledge and expertise.
Follow this simple outline. 👇
The Simple IG Caption Outline
Hook - Grab your audience’s attention before sharing tips, knowledge, or expertise.
Information - Show them that you know your stuff.
Call to Action - Tell them what next step to take.
HERE is an Example for you:
Hook:
Before you pick up and move to Vegas you’ve gotta know a few things.
Info:
🏨 Your friends will assume you live on the strip. But most of us locals, actually live within about a 40-minute radius of the Vegas lights.
☀️ Contrary to popular belief, it’s not 100 degrees year-round. You might even see some snow.
🍝 The Spaghetti Bowl… in fact, has nothing to do with your favorite Italian dish.
Call to Action:
If you’ve been considering making the move to Fabulous Las Vegas drop a 🔥 in the comments and I’ll slide into your DMs with my Guide for Making the Move to Vegas.
As you use this outline, you’ll likely develop your own style and approach. Think of this as the base recipe, you can spruce it up to your liking as you get the foundation down.
Common Caption Mistakes
Some of the most common things that people get wrong when it comes to writing IG captions are:
Trying to sound TOO professional. Challenge yourself to write the caption just as you would say it.
Forgetting keywords. As you could see I used words like “moving” and “Las Vegas”. That's because I want the algorithm to know that I want to be in front of people who are interested in moving to Vegas.
Not using a Call to Action. While the next step might be obvious to you, your audience wants to be guided to the next step. This will instantly increase your engagement and help you be connected with more of the right people for you!
Now that you have a simple outline and you know the common mistakes people make when writing their IG captions, you’re fully equipped to write your next (or first) fire Instagram caption. Find me on Instagram and Pinterest for more real estate branding and marketing tips!
